Molly McAdams chats accents and authors…

What inspired your latest sensational book, Blackbird?

So, this is actually the first story that wasn’t inspired, in part, by some part of my life, or by a dream! I woke up one Saturday morning and was lounging in bed since the baby wasn’t awake yet, and I was trying to think of how to end I See You since I was just weeks away from that deadline. The next thing I know, I have all of Blackbird in my mind, from beginning to end. I started it that morning and had it finished in a week. I’ve never had anything like that happen before!

And can you tell us a little of what we have to look forward to next with Firefly?

Hmm, what can I say, what can I say? Well, all the books within the Redemption series will be standalones, and the characters in Firefly will be new to you. Lucas mentioned “them” in Blackbird when he told Briar that one of their sketchier business contacts was the Irish-American mob. That “world” is being introduced in Firefly. As far as the story . . . we’ll just call it a Romeo & Juliet type of romance between the mob and mafia, with the added twist of a triangle.

Quickfire Questions – You and Your Heroes

Your guilty pleasure?

Reality TV! Gah. [grabby hands] bring me ALL the drama!

Your childhood crush?

Umm, Devon Sawa. “Can I keep you?” #Swoon

The author who made you a reader?

Stephenie Meyer! Thank you, Twilight!

The most attractive quality or feature in a hero?

It’s all about personality – a good smirk doesn’t hurt either. A hero that can make you laugh is the best!

The last book you read?

Royally Matched by Emma Chase!

The hottest accent?

Scottish. Oh my word, please just speak to me all day.

Must love cats, or dogs?

Dogs. Dogs, dogs, dogs! [As one of my German Shepherds tries to crawl into my lap]

The best thing a reader has ever done?

Oh goodness, I have the best readers it’s so hard to choose! There are these two that make or buy something whenever they’re going to see me, and it is always so perfect. A cupcake pinata for Sharing You. A green sour patch kid pinata for Forgiving Lies and Deceiving Lies. Harry Potter and Sour Patch kid bows for Kenz. Twilight and Harry Potter art for me. I am always speechless when I see them!

Your dream dinner party guests?

Fictional or real people? The reader in me has to begin with fictional… haha!

Rhysand from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series; Khalid from The Wrath and the Dawn series; Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows series. I’ve been lucky enough to meet those authors, but I would LOVE to have Stephenie Meyer so I could thank her for showing me this incredible world.

Bad boys or clean-cut heroes?

Oooh, give me a bad boy. Yes, please! Still in deep swoon over Rhysand from A Court of Mist and Fury a year later.

The book, by any author, you would recommend for a first-time romance reader?

I always begin with A.L. Jackson! So I would go with the first book of her latest series, A Stone in the Sea.
